Natalya Tarankova is a photographer and multidisciplinary artist. Originally from Latvia, she has been based in Denmark 2010-2023 and currently is based in Mexico city.

Bio
Natalya got her first camera from her father when she was 13 – a Soviet film camera FED and since then has not been able to stop taking photos. When she turned 19, she went to work as a photographer on a cruise liner, sailed the world while shooting and sharpening her technical photo skills. During 2010-2014 she took an alternative teachers education in Denmark in a private teacher training Det Nødvendige Seminarium. During her studies and after she graduated as a teacher, she has been working in educational projects and NGOs around Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East, exploring alternative pedagogy and photographing on the side of her teaching work.

Photography:
Natalya loves to capture moments of daily routine that aren’t always an obvious subject for photography. She often photographs the contrasts of nature and urban settings, people in their natural environment and fleeting moments that barely existed in the first place.
During the 20+ years of her photographic practice she explored various technics - digital, analog, experimental photography and photo printing. The last five years she has been diving deeper into the analog processes, film and photo development, alternative photo processes and antique photographic techniques.

Carrier:
In 2015, she started a business in Copenhagen – a beauty studio “Copenlashes”. Using her photo skills she expanded her company and in 2019 opened a creative studio - W.e.Space Cph.
W.e Space Cph studio was a space in the heart of Copenhagen for local entrepreneurs to network and learn new skills. Her teaching career in photography began here when she started teaching photography to small business owners, combining her two passions - photography and teaching.
During 8 years in Copenhagen Natalya has conduscted 100+ photo shoots, hosted 2 solo exhibitions and joined several group exhibitions, has collaborated with a long list of local artists and businesses.

Exhibitions:

Natalya held her first solo exhibition “Global routines” in 2022 in Copenhagen in Art Escape Gallery, exhibiting a touching selection of 25 photo pieces capturing quite daily moments from around the world, that she has photographer on her travels in Japan, India, Europe, Greenland, Russia and other locations during 2009-2022.

She held her second solo exhibition “Bikes & Roses" in 2023 in Copenhagen in Art Escape Gallery, exhibiting 25 unique photo pieces where each piece was created in a different photo technique, mixing antique vintage printing with AI generated images, inviting audience to “build” their own images from the separate color layers, photo puzzle pieces, mix photography with other mediums, taste the images printed on cookies, challenging the concept of what image can be. She as well collaborated on 7 of her pieces with other artists, inviting them to mix their own art techniques as weaving, embroidery, digital drawing, wet plate collodion, NFT mining and many others with her photography.

Natalya participated in a long list of group exhibitons in Latvia, Denmark and Mexico.
